Streaming to zero viewers for 10 hours actually hurts your average viewer count. If nobody's watching, a shorter stream with 2–3 friends dropping in beats a marathon stream to an empty room. The average is calculated per minute you're live.
Honest answer: 1–3 months for most people who stream consistently 3+ times a week. Some hit it in two weeks (usually people whose friends show up), and some take six months. The 3 average viewers requirement is almost always the bottleneck — which is why picking the right game category matters so much. Let's be real: your first months as an Affiliate will earn you roughly $10–50/month. Subscriptions cost viewers $5.99, and you keep 50% of that. Bits add a little more. It's not a paycheck — it's proof of concept. The streamers earning real money got there by treating Affiliate as mile one, not the finish line.
